I did my own little hash-dance, as usual navigating *away* from the hashpoint, whilst B2c approached the man. They started to chat and I joined a little later on too. Turned out that Florian (the man's name) was also there to grab the geohash, but he admitted that he never actually posted to the wiki. A lurking geohasher if you will. | I did my own little hash-dance, as usual navigating *away* from the hashpoint, whilst B2c approached the man. Plans
It was another rather drunk gin night, when B2c and Micsnare decided they wanted to go to Munich to see a band called "Russian Circles". It's a bit crazy considering that it's hundreds of kilometers away, but they weren't playing in their homebase 48.16. So it seemed reasonable to also go for a geohash whilst in Munich, right?!
Expedition
B2c and I met at around 10am for an extensive breakfast at a Cafe near Landstraße (3rd district in Vienna). We knew it would be a while until we could get something to eat again, that's why we stuffed our faces as best as we can. Right across the street from the Cafe was the shop were we rented our car. Unfortunately B2c sold his old trusty hashmobile last summer. We picked up a Alfa Guilia and off we were on the way to Munich. The ride was pretty smooth because it was a Sunday morning and we only stopped once (near the Austria-German border) to have some lunch. After the border it maybe took another 40-45 minutes till we reached Munich. We had already prepared our hashtools (GPS dashboard and the Geohash droid app) so we could get as close to the hashpoint as possible with our car. We parked the car and did the rest (maybe 2-3 minutes) by foot. We could see from afar that the hash was located in a housing complex and should be pretty easy to hash. It was maybe a few minutes before 4pm until we reached the hashsite and in the corner of our eyes we could see a man who looked like he was doing "a hash-dance". I pointed out to B2c that this man could perhaps also be a geohasher, but B2c gave me that look, "c'mon, how likely is that?" I did my own little hash-dance, as usual navigating *away* from the hashpoint, whilst B2c approached the man. They started to chat and I joined a little later on too. Turned out that Florian (the man's name) was also there to grab the geohash, but he admitted that he never actually posted to the wiki. A lurking geohasher if you will. We took some photos of the hashsite and obviously also the stupid grin, talked to Florian for a bit (told him that we came all the way from Vienna), and then made our way back to the hashcar.
Initially we came to Munich to see a chicago-based post-rock band called "Russian Circles", who played a tremendous set a little later on in the evening at the "Strom" club.... Go check them out ;-)
