Expedition

A classic hash without frills.

Took the road bike out at 8:30 in the morning, elided the Google-suggested route to create a leaner journey, and set off north of the city and across to the Main Yarra Trail and then Gardeners Creek Trail.

From here I departed the bike paths and took to High St, which undulated a fair bit before I hit a Shell service station to get my $1 morning coffee. I also used the opportunity to pump up my tires and was amazed to find the automatic pump went all the way up to 120 psi rather than the standard 60 (that's corner of High St and Gallaghers Rd for future use).

Annoyingly, I overcooked it and my tubeless glue-stopped puncture popped and I had to let some air out.

Within moments, however, I was at the hash. It was on a hillside with views of the Dandenongs to the east. A squall of rain was on its way. A kid on a unicycle rolled by.

I took some photos at the exact hash-point, right on the footpath. From here it was a simple matter of riding up the rest of the hill, taking Waverley Rd to the Monash Freeway bike path and the most efficient route home.
