A farmer's field near Stow cum Quy
Participants
Expedition
I had planned to start at 14:00, but university work took longer than expected so I actually didn't leave home until about 17:40. After ~1km of familiar territory, I was on to Newmarket Road, the main stretch of the journey. At 18:50, I turned off of Newmarket and went through a tunnel under the A14. I emerged on what I had thought was a pedestrian footpath, but it turned out to be a single-lane road. It had a surprisingly high frequency of vehicles driving along it; there was about one every minute.
As I approached the field, I passed a sign that said "Please no parking. Large machinery exiting farm at all times", so imagine my surprise when I walk down that lane and reach the field, to see no large machinery exiting the farm whatsoever! Just as I'd turned onto a tractor track on the field, a car pulled up about 20m away. The driver got out and opened his boot, but didn't say anything to me, so I continued boldy on, acting like I wasn't just walking into some random farmer's field because the internet told me to. The track was very muddy, making me really wish I'd worn boots rather than trainers. I reached the hash at about 19:30.
I took the same route back, getting home at about 21:30.
Tracklog
Unfortunately I have no photos for this expedition because it was dark and I forgot to bring a device with a decent camera.
