Expedition

We are on holidays at Sisters Beach once again. We saw this point was very gettable in some playing fields in Wynyard, the closest main town to where we're staying (with such facilities as a supermarket). Unfortunately, we had already done a big shop yesterday, so we couldn't be efficient and combine this geohashing expedition with a shopping trip.

But that didn't stop us. We drove into town (about 20 mins' drive) for the second time in two days, turned right at the cheese factory and headed straight for the hash. We first had to walk across a field with football goalposts and such, before crossing a very basic wooden post and rail fence (only two rails to contend with) to get into the right field. This field that the hash lay in is used by the Inglis Pony club, but besides a couple of jumps and things about there were no ponies (or even horses) to dissuade us from getting to the point. We were made to feel even more comfortable by watching a dog walker ahead of us also decide to breach this fence to access this second field for dog walking.

We got the point, snapped a pic, and went approximately back the way we came, but went via the edge of the field, where, in some vegetation, we saw a Tasmanian thornbill (distinguished from the brown thornbill by white tufts near its bottom).

We got back to the car, and then took the scenic route back to Sisters beach via Table Cape, where we stopped to do the short walk between the lookout point and the lighthouse. At the lighthouse we saw some young welcome swallows sitting on a picnic table being regularly visited by parents dropping off snacks for them. And then we went home.
