Location
A neighborhood of Bothell, this is just behind some houses on a publicly accessible track under the power lines. A mini-park is close by, near the large water tank.
Expeditions
Thomcat AM
I overslept, checked the coordinates right at 6:30, then closed my laptop. With sunrise at 7:07am, I could get close to a sunrise geohash, but probably not make it. Then again I have to hope the coordinates don't drift off this spot - darn DOW is dropping like a meteor. To the XKCD-mobile!
The sun rose while I was still in downtown Bothell, just a few miles short of the spot. The neighborhood itself was full of kids waiting for their school busses, so I snapped a photo of the front of the house and the accessway, then drove 3.2 miles to work. As a few famous people have said, "I'll be back."
Thomcat PM
Nobody else showed up, but I had a lovely short stroll by myself. The actual spot was under a small tree, which was giving my gps fits for some reason, but I did cross the spot multiple times trying to get it right.
On the way back to the car, I studied the tank more closely. Could it be a raptor habitat? I wasn't going to cross that fence to try and find out.
