Location

Today's location is in Heidelberg, on Berliner Straße near the intersection with Gugenmusweg.

Expedition

ilpadre

Planning: Today's location is easily reachable, less than 3 km from ilpadre's home and about 1 km from the New Campus of the University of Heidelberg, located at a crossroads.

Expedition: It was a windy and rainy day, so I decided to walk to the geohash instead of going there by bike. I reached the hashpoint around 10:20, took some photos and waited fifteen minutes in the hope that Danatar would be arriving earlier than planned. Then I had to leave.

Danatar

After visiting 2008-10-21 49 9 on my way to them, I spent the night at my parent's house. They not being used to surprise visits during the week, I had to explain the concept of geohashing to them: They are not easily shocked and took it well, being used to craziness from me. In the morning, my mother took me to the hashpoint which lies on her way to work. We parked the car in Gugenmusweg and were at the hashpoint at 11:20.

I didn't see ilpadre's signs, so I chalked "xkcd" on the pavement and "The internet was here" on a pole where the light rain could not wash it away. My mother took some pictures of me at the hashpoint, with irritated car drivers watching the strange guy with his Google Maps marker, and then brought me to the train station from where I went to 2008-10-22 49 7. I had hoped to meet another geohasher for the first time, but I could not reach the hashpoint earlier.

Danatar has driven over the hashpoint often while still living with his parents, so this is a Déjà-vu location for him (but there is no proof) and it is his third consecutive day geohashing after 2008-10-20 49 10 and 2008-10-21 49 9. Danatar's mother wins a Cubicle Geohash Almost Honorable Mention, working 1.5 km from the hashpoint.
