This graticule covers the part of the United Kingdom (UK) from 52° to 53° latitude, and from 0° to 1° longitude. It contains the city of Cambridge, and several smaller towns including King's Lynn, Wisbech, Thetford, Ely, Newmarket and Haverhill.
Contents
The area
The Cambridge graticule covers not only the county of Cambridgeshire, but also parts of Hertfordshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Lincolnshire. Most of it is land, but the Norfolk coastline falls just inside its northern edge, and, further west, it includes The Wash in Lincolnshire. Much of the terrain is quite flat, with some hillier land in the south, and much of it is farmland.
Due to the symmetry of coordinates about the prime meridian, the neighbouring Northampton graticule, to the west, will never provide a closer hashpoint than our own local one. However, the hashpoints in the two graticules occasionally fall quite close together near the meridian, offering a good opportunity for a Double geohash.

The following are known to have hashed recently:
- Benjw is in central Cambridge and is new to Geohashing. He currently has no GPS but does have a car, and would be delighted to exchange a lift in the latter for guidance from the former.
Retired hashers
These people have been active in the last year, but are probably now 'retired':
- AndyM
- Ax has a new bike and might try a long distance cycle ride if the weather is nice any time soon... and is occasionally car powered.
- JPD is bike powered as well. 16:00 is usually Not A Good Time, but will occasionally get there before that and leave a mark.
- Stephen Turner is bike-powered too.
- Granularman will most likely put in an appearance on 7 June, before he disappears to far-off graticules. He is powered by car and determination.
- gw280
- Keeper is powered by caffeine and petrol; therefore, he can get most places.
- lilac is also bike powered, but might be prepared to cycle up to about ten miles from Cambridge for a Saturday location.
- Spanky is also bike powered from Cambridge, and generally will try to go on a Saturday. Limit of about 15 miles and prepared to take a train to get in range.
