It includes the city of Kuopio, which has about 100000 inhabitants, and smaller towns Varkaus and Pieksämäki. Most of the graticule is rural area, and the terrain is mostly forests and lakes, among them Kallavesi, with it's 472 km² the 10th largest lake in Finland.
Note that the graticule is somewhat distorted due to the proximity of North Pole.
