Plans Five Thousand
I have my eye on this one as a probably accessible, probably fairly dull suburban Vancouver touch-and-go. It will be interesting to see if the imagery is out-of-date; this field could easily be a construction zone or a housing development by now. If I do it, it will likely be mid-day, probably an hour either side of 1 p.m. Michael5000 13:45, 30 September 2011 (EDT)
Plans 2
My thoughts exactly. I thought this would be my chance to finally meet Mr.5000, & then realized the grandchildren are coming out. If the plan changes then you'll see me.kydlt
Plans 3
I'm intrigued by this one, but more by possibly meeting someone I haven't met before! I'll try to swing by amid my errands. I'll also aim at one-ish, but I've got a fair trek to get there. I'll poke APR as well. Jiml 13:23, 1 October 2011 (EDT)
Expedition
Michael5000
I left my truck at work yesterday, so the expedition started with a long run to retrieve the Geohashing Expedition Vehicle. This was successful. From there, it was the commonplace drive over the Glen Jackson Bridge into East Vancouver. The hashpoint is in a still-vacant field, although quite close to the backyards of a row of townhouses. This made things pretty conspicuous, so I didn't put up any towering monuments at the hashpoint, just took a few pictures and headed home.

I don't think I'll get to 45 -122 today. I was real close to 45, -121, but more about that later.
Jim
I started out for the hashpoint from the market, but shortly after I started out, the batteries in the GPS died. No problem: I've got others in the camera case. Except they were also pretty much dead. (I guess my batteries are getting old; I'll need to check them more often.)
Doing this as a "No Batteries" wasn't going to work, so I took this as a sign that this expedition wasn't going to happen for me. I headed off to my next errand, chalking this up as a failure of technology.
