Expedition
This one was fun mostly because it was a true Déjà vu geohash.
We dropped off Katja at the airport for her return to college, and then Rebekah drove to the hashpoint before we went home. The point was on the grounds of the Equest Center for Therapeutic Riding, an organization that provides horseback rides as therapy for people with various mental and physical disabilities. The hashpoint was directly in front of the ranch house that serves as the office.
Rebekah was a volunteer at Equest last year, leading horses, walking alongside to make sure people didn't fall off, caring for the horses, and so on. On our No Trespassing expedition of 2014-09-18 43 -85, I had picked Rebekah up from Equest, parking about two meters from today's hashpoint! In the expedition report I wrote "I was on the hook to pick up Rebekah from her volunteer gig north of town, and when I checked the hashpoint I saw that it was just a little farther north... So we set out from the volunteer place confidently."
I don't have a photo from the time when I was waiting around for her that day. However, I offer the following Déjà vu proof: a picture of R and me at the hashpoint today, with the Equest barn in the background; the preexisting expedition report from 2014-09-18 43 -85; and a photo of our family calendar for September 2014, with "Equest" clearly visible on the 18th. Susanne had dropped Rebekah off there earlier the same day. (She did not pick up because she had to prepare for bookclub!)
Just up the road from the hashpoint was an old historical site with a stone culvert that supports an old wooden railroad trestle. The trestle is now buried in soil over the culvert, and the track is now a Rails to Trails bicycle path.
