Expedition
After visiting Keuruu swimming hall in the afternoon, there was a suitable opportunity to visit this hashpoint, which was actually quite close to our home. Daughter fell asleep quickly when starting from Keuruu center towards the hashpoint, and we navigated through the maze of small gravel roads built for logging purposes to the vicinity of the point.
Daughter was left sleeping in the car, while Mrs. Tilley and I put on our outdoor clothes. For the feet I this time remembered to actually wear my Muck Boots, and Mrs. Tilley had her waterproof hiking boots. About 220 meters to the hashpoint, this will be quick. For about 150 meters, we followed a track a forest machine had made recently. Our boots came into use when going over one very wet section. In the machine tracks there were deep pools of water but in the middle we found a passable route.
With about 100 meters to go to the hashpoint, we reached the side of the hill. We chose a place without big rocks and started to ascend. The forest was quite thick, but dodging trees and constantly looking for the easiest route, we quite soon were at the rock that constituted the hashpoint. I didn't want to go geodancing in the spruce-thicket on the side of the rock, probably the reading wouldn't have been any better then.
A couple of pictures for proof, then quickly back towards the car. I was a little bit too eager to get back, and managed to drop Mrs. Tilley off my tracks completely. She missed the right forest machine track, and made some kind of a detour, appearing 5 minutes later to the car from 90 degrees different direction than I. Well, no real chance to get lost here, there road network in these parts of Finland is _really_ dense, and here was the side of the hill providing additional assistance. All this time Daughter was sound asleep, and we even drove home the about 10 km without her waking. Swimming is exhausting business!
