And DON'T FORGET to add your expedition and the best photo you took to the gallery on the Main Page! We'd love to read your report, but that means we first have to discover it! :)

This morning I got an email that the hashpoint in my home graticule ([[42,-88]]) was less than ten miles from my house. I was about to delete it when I realized that I wasn't far from my childhood home which is almost exactly 1 degree South of my current home, so I checked the map. Holy smokes! It's less than a mile from where I'm sitting with my client!

I got down to the actual hashpoint, which was an electrical box next to the parking for the facilities staff, and snapped my obligatory pictures. Plans

This morning I got an email that the hashpoint in my home graticule (42,-88) was less than ten miles from my house. I was about to delete it when I realized that I wasn't far from my childhood home which is almost exactly 1 degree South of my current home, so I checked the map. Holy smokes! It's less than a mile from where I'm sitting with my client!

I attended CoD on and off through the 90s, most of it from 90-92. Most of that time was spent in the Arts Center Lounge with a group of people that quickly became my friends. I was already on campus for work to train some of the staff on their new software. What an amazing coincidence that The Algorithm would put me here today!

Now I just have to hope I get done with my client while it's still light out!

Expedition

After lunch (at the nearest Portillo's one of my client asked if we could be done by 2:30p... HECK YEAH! So we wrapped up with plenty of daylight and time to kill. I had already reached out to my former "Lounge Lizards" (what we called ourselves back in the day) that I would be in town and we should do dinner. So I had over three hours to kill after my client but before everyone gathered here in The Lounge for dinner.

Gorgeous weather was all around, so I set my GPS and walked to the spot. I hadn't been sure from the map, but the closer I got the more I realized just exactly how close this hashpoint was to The Lounge where I wasted so many hours I should have been in class.

I got down to the actual hashpoint, which was an electrical box next to the parking for the facilities staff, and snapped my obligatory pictures. I hiked back up the hill to take a picture of the nearby college map and noticed someone had come out a door near the hashpoint and was eyeing me. I must have been on camera somewhere. Oh well.

Took a few more pictures, and with time to spare, wandered my old stomping grounds taking in what was new and what was exactly the same.
