With the hash in the middle of a large public park, I was excited to not only add to the Official Saturday Meetup count, but it would be the perfect opportunity to try out the new snowshoes I purchased at the end of November. It was a mild winter to this point and I had not really had a chance to use them yet. It was also forecasted to be very cold so I didn't want to take the dogs out anywhere. The suburban towns in the area tend to ban dogs in their parks which is really dumb, but it worked out with the low temps anyway that they weren't missing anything.

In the afternoon, I made my way to the park without any issues. I parked in the parking lot near the sledding hill and fumbled around with the new snowshoes. I hadn't actually put them on until now and the bindings were a little tricky. Once firmly attached to my feet, I set off and made my way past the sledders and into fresh, deep snow. It. was. glorious. I still had plenty of time to get to the hash for the Official Meetup and explored a little on the trails in the area testing out the snowshoes. Fortunately, the Hash was in the back of the park near the large creek that goes by there. The further away from the road I got, the fewer footprints I saw. I learned I really enjoy breaking my own trail.

Making my way to the field, I pulled out my phone and using the HashDroid App, I did a quick GPS Dance and got a couple pictures. Success had, I continued to hike around the park on the trails, spending approximately 2 hours exploring and enjoying the new snowshoes. Getting back to the car, I was happily exhausted as I made my way back home.
