The Glasgow graticule [1] is at latitude 55, longitude -4, in the United Kingdom. It is mostly on land, except for the western portion (which is in the Firth of Clyde), and stretches from Helensburgh in the north down to the Galloway Forest Park in the south.
On May 21st, 2008, the co-ordinates pointed to a location just off a country road, around one mile east of Currarie and two miles west of (though closer to by road) Pinmore. The nearest sizable town was Girvan, about six miles drive north.
On July 7th, 2008, the co-ordinates pointed to a location just off shore from the Cloch Road in Gourock and was home to a lovely view of the sunset. Unfortunately due to Tom's lack of gills, flippers, seamanship, piracy skills and working camera, he was unable to get to it or take a picture of it. =(
Local Geohashers
Does anyone attend?
2016 : All below are 2012 and earlier. fleabite531 is potentially interested.
'tom' is interested, is anyone else?
'ch' might be interested. When there are 5 or more names I'll start. It'll get me out of my bedroom at least.
"Laurel" is also interested, if the locations are accessible via public transport.
As is "Neil", assuming the cost of transport doesn't eat up his poor student budget.
And then there's James, who is itching to get a fourth visit under his belt.
Gorak is well up for some Geohash meetups! How's Saturday 12th July sound, assuming it's not in the sea again?
Andy is interested too! His first Geohash will be on 2008-08-09.
gnudoc is interested in any Geohash near Glasgow.
'chap' is interested, also so long as it doesn't abuse his student budget.
