Expedition

So my parents had a house here in Portland for many years, but now they've consolidated back to the hometown, and for various reasons it seemed perfectly sensible that I would drive down with a carload of stuff, then drive their truck back to the city, fill it with a truckload of stuff, drive back to the hometown, then return in my car back home, feeling fresh and relaxed and ready for work on Monday morning. It is about 250 miles between the two, so a 1000-mile weekend. Why not!

This first hashpoint was not far off the road on the first of the four legs. It involved a short walk down a gravel road in a nature reserve, then a short tramp out into the marsh. For the second time in recent geohashing, I got my feet wet, but only up to the ankles or so this time. Plus, I had cleverly thought it through and packed spare shoes and socks this time.

After the expedition, I drove a few miles west to the little town of Veneta, and went for a exploratory run. Then a quick dinner, and I was ready to continue on my way!
