Plans

This will be KerrMcF's first geohash and, as his home graticule's coordinates are in water, travelling east is easier. Since he is volunteering from 11-2, he expects to arrive at the location around 4:15pm and will do so mostly via public transport to Falkirk.

Expedition

KerrMcF

I took the bus to Glasgow and then the train from Glasgow Queen Street to Falkirk High. This was then followed by a 5km walk to the geohash. Along the way, I found a set of stairs that were not displayed on OpenStreetMaps, so I added them to this. The approximate view of the geohash is highlighted in one of the below images. The route to the geohash required crossing a railway line and a canal, the first was done by tunnel and the second by bridge. Unfortunately, I did not reach the geohash until 75 minutes after I had originally planned due to struggling to find the entrance to the field it was located in, but I eventually did reach it and successfully completed my first geohash!

I had researched earlier if there was a nearby geocache, and there was! I went to find it after my geohash and although I was able to find it only 342m away from the geohash, the presence of a hill prevented them from being within sight of each other. I also forgot my pen. No hash collision today. I didn't take any photos of it as I'm only just now realising the honourable mention conditions but I'll link the listing below and claim that anyway.

Returning home was not as easy, my phone died on the way back to the train station (must bring a battery pack on future expeditions!) and managing journey times was far more difficult than it needed to be. The bus I had gotten into Glasgow does not run after 5:30pm so I had to improvise with the infrequent train journeys back home. Both the journey in and back took 90 minutes each.
