User talk:OtherJack
Issue with the current events bot is that it figures links to user pages are strong indicators of participation in the expedition. I suggest using the discussion page for talking about an expedition. I am moving your comments over to the discussion page of the 2010-07-03 47 -122 expedition. --aperfectring 21:04, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
The Old Neighborhood
If you're ever back in the Chicago area, throw me a line. We'll have to try a geohash meetup! RocketMac 13:04, 4 March 2012 (EST)
- Seconding this. I'm another popping in and out of the Chicago area, but hopefully we can all meet up eventually. December perhaps? -Haberdasher 20:06, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
- Yeah, that's probably the next time I'll be back! You guys (and Evil Uncle Nomo and others I've seen around on here) could certainly meet before then, though... OtherJack 22:36, 22 March 2012 (EDT)
Food
Any allergies/dislikes? When or if I (repeatedly) attempt the pie achievement, probably with cheesecake, it's good to know. Weekly meetups will be popular targets. --Traveller 15:08, 23 March 2012 (EDT)
Hello
Did you set up a bot to contact newly successful northwest geohashers? I got a message from you! howdy! Pearldog 00:46, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
- Haha no, it wasn't a bot, I just watch to see if vaguely-Seattle area folks show up on this. Sorry if the message was overly generic. OtherJack 13:32, 7 April 2012 (EDT)
Geohashing Day 2012
Netting three in a row, at least in the Seattle graticule, is looking unlikely. Any plans? --Thomcat 13:06, 21 May 2012 (EDT)
- I wasn't going to try today given the bike-unfriendly weather and the remoteness of the Seattle and Snoqualmie points from evening-running public transport. I guess I could have taken the day off work and aimed for the Seattle one during the daytime using Kitsap transit, but didn't really think about it. So I'm at work now with gps and camera at home. If you want to try for one, though, I'm up to join you. --OtherJack 14:54, 21 May 2012 (EDT)
100
So the requirement for 100 is to either geohash or meetup on Saturday's at 4:00. I am taking the next few weeks off baseball, so we should totally go for a semi-regular meetup. If interested, we will post meeting announcements in Seattle discussion pages each Friday and start racking up the meetups. --Thomcat 19:10, 18 June 2012 (EDT)
- Sweet! No guarantee I'll be free every time, but if I am free then I'm game.
- Technical wiki-question: I've been largely skipping the talk page and just posting (links to) planning directly on the Seattle main page, and I figured that was ok since they both tickle people's watchlists equally well. Or at least, I thought so from experience. Am I missing something here?

- The Talk page is a hazy mess and overdue for cleanup. Back in the day, I used to post at the top of it for each weekend and each hash point during the week that was achievable by me. Expedition planning pages are fine too - they are much easier to auto-generate than they used to be. --Thomcat 01:43, 19 June 2012 (EDT)
- Done. Now I wish I could take today off - [1] looks worth of an expedition - is it archaeology? Naturally straight lines? Dang! --Thomcat 12:13, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
- Yeah - that is super odd looking. There's another patch of the same white stuff in a field further north, but shaped totally differently, just a blob, no lines. --OtherJack 12:45, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
