Plans
I saw that the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day hashpoints for this graticule were easy to get to and only a few miles, so I had to try for a Consecutive Geohash Achievement
Expedition
After the weekly visit to Alterra with the wife, I headed out for the hashpoint.
I arrived amidst flakes of snow falling and cold, blowing wind. I had previously found a cache in this area, so I knew the layout. Oddly, the cache was gone, but there was another one nearby.
I made my way to the hashpoint and snapped a few pictures. From there I wandered over to the cache which was resting comfortably in a end-of-road barrier. Is it poetic irony that during a cold, snowy day, I find a cache at the hashpoint called "Imperial Probe Droid: Ice Planet Hoth" or what?
My car was in desperate need of gas and I had another errand to run, so I stopped at a gas station. There they had a squishy machine! Since it wasn't technically within sight of the hashpoint, and I don't really care for squishes, I opted for a Pepsi instead. During the "Cola Wars" of the '80s, I was a solider on the side of Pepsi. Based on my consumption over the last couple of decades, I'm pretty sure I'm a Colonel by now.
After my errands, I went home. Just in time for the snow to start really flaking out there.
