Plans
Spend the morning. Going there by train. First to Plaça Catalunya, in Barcelona, where I will change trains and take the one to Mataró. Once there, walk to the hash and on the way back find a geocache. However, I must be back home before midday. So I have no much time to spend there.
Expedition
I am writing this with the hope that the wiki will be back running full speed soon :)
I have been noticing that I have it more difficult to go after hashes on my home graticule (41,2) than in my study-home one (54,13). Not only because it is also big part water, but also because my only mean of transport is by bike and bad weather has not been helping either. However, today was finally the day where the hash was more or less easily reachable.
I am still trying to remember the last time I was in Mataró (if ever). And Mataró is famous for one thing: It is from here where the first train in the Iberian peninsula took off. The route Mataró-Barcelona in 1848 (fun fact, not the first of Spain, since it was in Cuba when it still belonged to Spain) The more you know ;)
So today I woke up earlier than usual and after breakfast I took the train to Barcelona (FGC). This I do usually. Once there, in Plaça Catalunya is where I took the other train to Mataró (RENFE). The slow one ;P (people living here will understand). Actually not, today was everything was on time and with no delays.
Here the train was stopping everywhere where possible, but at least it was along the coast, which made it more beautiful. 50 minutes later I was arriving in Mataró. Sunny day, warmer than expected. Long trousers may have not been the best idea ^^ In Mataró I went directly towards the hash. I have the cartography downloaded in my phone, that means that finding the path there was not difficult.
I climbed direction mountain (here in Maresme and Barcelona you have two directions, sea and mountain) and on the way there I saw a (I don't dare to say minor-celebrity but I could say) known-person in some circles (in Catalonia), a comedian. That's random, I didn't even knew she lived there (if she does). Nonetheless it made the expedition somewhat different.
After this brief encounter I was already approaching the hash. I have to admit this, it was located in an ugly park. It was more like an improvised parking space, with some unbuild terrains. Not the comfiest corner in Mataró. Took necessary proof, under the sun, and was feeling the excitement of finally reaching a hash in my home graticule. 10 months later after finding about geohashing. Finally! :D
Then I went back direction sea, but first I walked by a geocache. Nice hidden garden with no people. Peaceful spot.
Not much after that I was finding myself again in the train station waiting for the train back to Barcelona. And in Barcelona, taking the other train and 28 minutes later back home.
Let's see if I somehow get more people in the area go geohashing here. It could be fun :)
