Expedition

I had researched Geohashing before but never enough to know how to get involved so I resolved to do this the previous evening after a typical xkcd binge. I set up my user page, added myself as an active user in my graticule and wondered how long it would be until there was a Geohash I could reach. As I refreshed the browser, though, I realised co-ordinates had been published for the following day and I could quite easily reach it that afternoon. How lucky! I dressed for the occasion (Formal attire achievement), grabbed my girlfriend (Drag-along achievement) and hopped on a train. We then had to walk only 500 yards from Witton station to reach the hash (talk about low hanging fruit!). We got there at 4pm on the dot and didn't see anyone else but still enjoyed getting funny looks whilst taking our photos with the road sign as proof.

We also left a marker that was very much inspired by 2009-10-03 51 -1 which I have taken a picture of concealed behind the roadsign with the label 'Open me!'. Hopefully they'll be able to trace it back to us!
