It was another rather 'fluid' G&T night in january when B2c and Micsnare decided they wanted to go to Munich to see a band called "Russian Circles". It's a bit crazy considering that it's hundreds of kilometers away, but the band wasn't playing at their homebase 48_16. So it seemed reasonable to also go for a geohash whilst in Munich, right?!

Expedition

B2c and Micsnare met at around 10am for an extensive breakfast at a Cafe near Landstraße (3rd district in Vienna). They knew it would be a while until they could get something to eat again, that's why they stuffed their faces as best as they could. Right across the street from the Cafe was the shop were they had rented a car. Unfortunately B2c had sold his old trusty hashmobile last summer. So they picked up an Alfa Giulia and off they were on the way to Munich.

The ride was pretty smooth because it was a Sunday morning with low traffic. They only stopped once (near the Austria-German border) for some lunch, after that it maybe took them another 40-45 minutes until they reached Munich. They had already prepared the hashtools (GPS dashboard and the Geohash droid app) so they could get as close to the hashpoint as possible by car. They parked the car and went the rest of the way (maybe 2-3 minutes) by foot.

They could see from afar that the hash was located near a housing complex and should be pretty easy to get to. It was maybe a few minutes before 4pm until they reached the hashsite and in the corner of their eyes they could see a guy who looked like he was doing the "hash-dance". Micsnare pointed out to B2c that this guy could perhaps also be geohashing, but B2c gave her that "c'mon, how likely is that?"-look. Micsnare did her own little hash-dance, as usual navigating *away* from the hashpoint, whilst B2c approached the guy. They started to chat and Micsnare joined them shortly after. Turned out that the guy's name was Florian and he actually was also there to grab the geohash, but he admitted that he never posted to the wiki. A lurking geohasher if you will. They took some photos of the hashsite and obviously also did the stupid grin, talked to Florian for a bit (told him that we came all the way from Vienna for a concert), and then made their way back to the car.

Initially they came to Munich to see a chicago-based post-rock band called Russian Circles, who played a tremendous set a couple hours later on in the evening at the club [1]... Go check them out ;-) - To our surprise Florian also knew them!
