Peoria's geohash for Thursday was on a golf course. That would have been a great opportunity for a Golf achievement, but I've never gone golfing in my life, and I wasn't about to start today, while it was getting dark, just for a ribbon. I set my sights to the south, and found Springfield's to be conveniently located in a parking lot. Plans were to just head out, get to the spot, and then find somewhere to eat before coming back home.

Expedition

After work, with wife in tow, we left home and drove for about an hour before arriving at Illinois' capital city. Rachel shutterbugged for me as we drove through the scattered showers, and were able to enjoy a rainbow to the east for most of the trip, since the sun was low. Getting to the spot wasn't too much trouble. I opted for a No Batteries Geohash this time, since the point was easily identifiable as "the end of the sixth parking spot on the second-to-last row of the lot." Being around 5:30 pm, it was mostly empty as I had hoped. We parked in the spot right next to the one in question. I got out and took pictures while Rachel preferred to stay in the car. I found the parking lot to be for the Office of the Auditor General, for some level of government. Without much interesting to do here, we left the lot, found a Steak 'n' Shake for dinner, and returned home about three hours after we'd left. Good times!
