Expedition

Neil planned to be there at about 17:00 local time. In fact it was 22:00 by the time he got there. His droid sent this ...

There was still some late evening daylight fading fast. Two barn owls were spotted and a herd of deer. The Minsmere bird reserve was nearby and there were hundreds of waterfowl calling. A field of free range pigs was mostly calm but there was the odd piglet squeal. The hashpoint was in heather covered heath land. The walk from the car and back was 2.4 km. Unusually Neil met two bird watchers, especially as it was nearly 10pm and getting quite dark. Perhaps there was something rare lurking. Usually geohashing expeditions are more lonely. It was a humid warm night with heavy rain forecast for the early hours.
