Substitute Squishies?
The Cincinnati area is completely bereft of 7-Elevens, opting instead for United Dairy Farmers. Must the squishy in question be a Slurpee-branded squishee? -- Scottkuma 15:39, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't get this...is this for real? Why did it have to turn into a product placement thing? Down with the man! Daniel 02:00, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
In the absense of 7-Elevens I dont see why some other type of squishy couldnt be substituted, as long as consistency was maintained. 7-Eleven was only chosen because that is our regular squishy haunt and they're located around the world, not just limited to Australia. How about I add a section to the page where people can add substute locations for graticules without 7-Elevens? Ubethatway 13:30, 5 June 2008 (AEST)
It's not meant to be about product placement. We simply make regular squishy runs and decided it would be fun to incorporate them into any geohashing attempts. In order to make it some kind of challenge we decided to restict squishy locations by proximity and vendor. 7-Eleven was only chosen because that is our preferred squishy vendor by personal preference (opening time and taste) and because they're not nation-specific. Clearly, to accomodate all graticules the vendor needs to be more flexible by graticule. The page has been updated to accomodate this and so as not to appear so "pro 7-Eleven". I assume that ICEE brand would be an acceptable substitute frozen carbonated beverage, but would a Taco Bell Frutista Freeze? It's a strawberry or mango flavored frozen carbonated beverage (not a smoothie or anything like that) topped with strawberry topping.--Ahecht 18:58, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
gratuituous achievement?
there was talk on #geohashing yesterday regarding this achievement as being pretty gratuituous (esp with the large sub-achievements), and discussion of replacing it with usage of the Gratuitous ribbon achievement. I for one support this move. Discussion? --Nemo 11:29, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- I support leaving it alone for historical reasons, maybe adding a note to that effect so people know nothing that silly is going to get added anymore. I actually find it an interesting challenge. -Robyn 13:36, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
