Expedition
This feels like a completion or an addition to last week's expedition. The hash fell on the same municipality and I took off a little earlier that I did last week, since it's a few kilometres away. I also had the opportunity to be a little more prepared and learn from my mistakes. Not wanting to earn the Lobster achievement I earned last week, I put some sunscreen on me. Today is going to be sunny and warmer. I also, remembered to take a piece of fruit for my lunch. Now that is a more serious expedition ;)
I left home at about 10:30 and followed the exact same path I took. The tracklogs can be compared and seem almost identical. Almost exactly one hour later (faster than I thought) I was cycling by the hashpoint I had already visited. But this time I had to continue. So after that came Böken and then I took a path between fields that guided me toward Trissow. There in Trissow I went direction the river Peene, but took a parallel path to it. The meadows around the river are natural protected area, and are very beautiful to visit. On the river there are usually some ships for tourists and, in summer, plenty of people with kayaks and such. I like this sentence I took out from wikipedia: "the river Peene and its valley is sometimes grandiloquently referred to as the Amazon of the North". They key word is "grandiloquently" hehe :D.
But I still was going after the hash. So I was on that parallel path to the river, going west, and approaching today's hash. Very lonely area, I encountered no one. And hot day. Not too hot since it's always a little windy here. But the sun was burning. I took some forgotten paths, eaten by plants and parked Winterbuche to continue on foot. Here I had to follow some deer-trails. The inconvenient is that deer have hairy legs and mine are not so hairy and they don't mind walking on nettles, but I do mind a little. It was, however, unavoidable. They sting a little bit ,but you have to make the possible not to thing about the pain. It's just gets a little annoying.
Almost reaching the hash, I saw 2 military aircraft flying towards me, overflying me and continuing with their training making a lot of noise. It is not so rare to see them in this area, well mostly hearing them. They are very noisy. I have been hearing them often these last weeks. But once they were gone, I heard again the croaking of frogs. And after some dancing I got at the hash coordinates. I did not spend much time there, it was getting itchy.
So I went after Winterbuche again, and what now? Get home? Not yet. The river is unreachable on most parts, but there are some spots which are accessible. There was such one near Trissow, I actually knew that because of a geocache named "The beach of Trissow", so I went there to have some lunch.
Lovely place. Hidden, quiet, and with shade where I could lean and rest. I parked Winterbuche and took my lunch out. Only a couple of minutes later, an old couple with a kayak came along and also parked there to rest. They came from Alt Jarnegow, 1 village south-east from here. So, they also enjoyed the peacefulness of this hidden corner. I had no towel with me, I did not think of that, but it did not impede me to take a bath. A much deserved bath. The water was not too cold and it was very refreshing.
After taking the bath, the sun was burning. 14:00, it was at its peak. Afraid of getting sunburn again, and since I took a bath, after it, I put some sunscreen again. Never too careful. And rested for a while. I had a book with me, but instead of reading I wrote myself while resting there. Was inspired.
But then I felt like I had to face the way back again. Packed my things and just when I was leaving, a group of 3 teenagers girls came to enjoy the place. Perfect timing, now they could enjoy the peacefulness of this corner.
The way back has no further story. I went faster that expected (I seems like I expect very little from myself ¿^^) and heard some podcasts. The sun was burning, but this time I successfully avoided the feared lobster achievement.
And a little piece of trivia! With this expedition I accumulated +1000km cycling on Geohashing expeditions! Hurray :D All the praise goes to Winterbuche. +1000km and many hidden places I discovered thanks to the randomness of the internet, that I wouldn't have otherwise.
