Living down in Inverloch sucks for my social life up in Melbourne, 145 kms away. So to this end I arranged to meet for dinner with fellow geohash enthusiast Sasha at the halfway point: Pakenham. After experiencing the enjoyable Italian cuisine on offer in Pakenham on a Wednesday night, Sasha and I pointed out to one another that the geohash location was within range that evening: Cranbourne - Pakenham's South Eastern evil twin.

We had estimated it would take about half an hour to get there in Sasha's car (as opposed to mine which had worn out its clutch), stripping an hour out of our respective evenings. Unfortunately, an hour later we were still struggling to find the hash after taking many wrong turns and overshooting the hash by several kilometres (might I mention that Sasha was navigating?). But at last we'd arrived. Winding our way through many indulgently twining suburban streets we found a plot of land eviscerated from the surrounding residences so as to allow access to the park beyond their back fences. It was here that the hash was located. Clambering out of the car and trying to make sense of our surroundings it took us no time to hone in on 'Zero Metres' and thus our goal.

A few quick photos and we were out of there. We exactly retraced our steps... except that we managed to avoid the massive detours inflicted upon us on our way out by our crappy direction-finding. Some time after 11pm we were back at my car outside the Italian restaurant and then we were on our way off to our respective homes. Sadly, I was not to make it to my home, deciding after midnight that I wouldn't be able to stay awake all the way back to Inverloch, so I spent the night sleeping in my car near Dayleston, getting to work at 7am at the desalination plant near Wonthaggi. Nobody particularly noticed that I hadn't showered that morning.

Here is the Google Maps route we took, including my trip to bed that night.
