Expedition

It's my 50th geohash expedition! Originally, Leidenfrost was supposed to come too, but didn't make it. So I rode to the station to catch the train to Quickborn, but unfortunately my bike's speedo's time was two minutes early, so I just barely missed it by about 10 seconds. That meant I had to cycle the 9 km to the hash. When I arrived at the gate to a private house in the forest, I initially thought I wouldn't be able to get there because the hash was surrounded by fenced properties. But I was able to walk into the forest, find a path that led along the property (always in visual range from the house) and arrive at a field. I walked the border between the field and the estate until I reached the strip of forest in which the hash was located. I entered it and found the hashpoint near a forest path only 30 m from the house within viewing range, but I never had to step any fence as I got there by going in a kind of spiral. I took pictures and walked back the 250 m to my bike, not being spotted or approached.

I checked the time and noticed that the next train would depart in under six minutes, with Google prognosticating I would need 7 minutes for the 2.3 km to the station. I reckoned I could make it and rushed there, but unfortunately missed a turn and, when I finally arrived, only saw the train rolling away. I probably would have gotten it half a minute earlier. But I didn't fret and set out to cycle the 8.2 km to the restaurant where I was supposed to be in under 20 minutes. I arrived 5 minutes late, but still in time to be the first there.
