This graticule is a new conquest for Pastori and Wife on the Finnish map. Only a small part of this graticule is on land and while they have visited the city of Vaasa, which is located in the graticule, multiple times, the hashpoint has never been on land while they've been there. Because of this, they've had to set their sights on specifically hunting the point.

Expedition

There he goes.

Over the weekend they were able to check the point for Tuesday as well and lo and behold, the point in this particular hashpoint was on land. Pastori and Wife considered whether or not they should go for a couple of days but then decided to go for it. The whole width of Finland from east to west and it's not a short distance so they had to look for some lodgings as well. They managed to find a nice looking place from the islands and off they went in the morning of the 4th of September. Autumn can be felt in the air and mist lingered on the scenery but once the sun rose higher the day turned out to be swelteringly hot. After driving for 441.4 km they were nearing the point. There was only 300 m to go on a road through the fields but it wasn't suited for the car, they would have needed a tractor at least. But, since the point was so close already, they set out on foot. Through the open fields they went and past a barn, still on the road though, Pastori hurrying ahead and Wife staying behind to take pictures. Pastori did some nice dancing and reached an accuracy of 0.732 m. Wife was smiling widely, now they had another graticule more to add to their map.

After a coffee break they happily continued on to their reserved lodgings which was an old farm house by the sea in a calm and quiet surroundings. After a little nap Pastori got refreshed by swimming in the sea. And so another day had been passed along with a nice hobby and tomorrow they will drive the same kilometres home and wait for new hashpoints and graticules.

Achievements

Pastori earned the Graticule Unlocked Achievement by being the first to reach any hashpoint in the (63, 21) graticule, here, on 2018-09-04.

Pastori earned the XKCD-100 Honorable Mention Achievement by voyaging 441,4 km to reach the (63, 21) geohash on 2018-09-04. Alas it was not a Saturday.

Pastori achieved level 4 of the Minesweeper Geohash achievement by visiting coordinates in Vaasa, Finland and 4 of the surrounding graticules.
