Expedition

With an active Consecutive streak going at 3 (see yesterday's expedition here), I could match my personal best today. And being a Friday, I'd get to see the weekend hashes too. I didn't want to get too excited as things don't always work out, but it's hard for me to not be filled with hope. Checking the Buffalo hashes first, I didn't have anything good for today, but Tomorrow's hash looked reachable and I would be in the area. So it comes down to today. I found this hash sitting in Niagara Falls, just a short 4 blocks away from another hash I did with J earlier in the year. The Satellite imaging looked a little concerning that there was a fence between the neighborhood and the parkway. The StreetView confirmed it, but I was really hoping the hash was on top of the fence or just a little past but within reaching distance.

Only one way to find out, and I took a third in a row lunch expedition to Niagara Falls. Not much to say about the drive over, but I easily found 66th Street following my phone's GPS and found a parking spot by the hash. With the HashDroid app running, I had to step on some brush by the fence, but with how close I was, I was pretty confident I was going to get there. Standing on the brush, the top of the fence was at armpit height and I could easily reach over with the full length of my arms. I was able to get a reading of 3 feet/1 meter and called it good. I was considering walking quickly toward the hash to 'throw' the blue dot a bit further if I had to, but no cheating was necessary here. As I was getting my pictures, I heard barking behind me and saw a German Shepard yelling at me from behind his fence on the other side of the street. With the guy out (probably wondering what the heck I was doing), I didn't take a picture in that direction (he had signs for our terrible and fascist new president on his lawn so I really didn't want a confrontation, even if he was a really old man).

Back in the car, I was now set up to break my personal best Consecutive Streak with a potentially successful expedition tomorrow!
