This is the Raleigh version of the Atlanta 2009-01-08 33 -84 expedition. I guess today was the day to do capital city Speed Racers!

Today's N35 W78 geohash landed right smack dab in the middle of a residential street in southern Raleigh, North Carolina. This was just too tempting to pass up as its conquest meant not only a new graticule for us, but the promise of more accolades, cash awards, and spiffy ribbons. So, the wifey and I decided to try for the hash in Speed Racer fashion on our drive home after work. Unfortunately, we didn't have one of our three digital cameras (dooh!), but the wife did have one on her company cell phone. So, roaring down the highway at 65mph/105kph, we tested the camera's ability to capture the speedometer, to the alarm of our fellow rush-hour road warriors I'm sure. Please don't try this yourself, I am a professional idiot.

Just as the sun was setting over the metropolis skyline (2235 UTC), we eased into the neighborhood and stopped at the hash. Glorious! (As I check my rear-view mirror for approaching cars/bikes/skateboards.) We drove on up to the dead-end and turned around, then warped through the hash at the death-defying speed of 10mph/16kph, with the wife leaning over to capture the speedometer for material proof/bragging rights. After basking in the glow of our achievement, we headed to Wal-Mart to purchase cat food and ammunition.
