Just asking for disaster. Below freezing, dark, unfamiliar area, ~~railroad bridge,~~ iced over river, brand new GPS, 1.3 mile hike, no water, very little planning. Stopped by thin ice and a sudden outbreak of common sense. Settled for MNIMB consolation and coming back home unharmed.
