Expedition

The Plan

Just east of Lehigh Acres.

The Geohashers

The Adventure

Now on the south end of Okeechobee, we turned back to the Gulf of Mexico and started the trek back. We saw a few more controlled burns, which I found out apparently these burns cause a spat of trouble with the wildlife preservation societies for messing up the ecosystem. I have no idea beyond that, but I thought I'd mention it.

Aside from having the Everglades on our left, the trip was pretty much as exciting as Sebring. We got much better at aerial geohashing and actually nailed the GPS picture to two decimal places, or as exact as we could get it. We landed at the nearby Labelle airstrip, refueled for cheap gas, and I left the Six of Clubs for them in their rest area.

Fun fact: With this geohash, I have now successfully reached geohashes in half of Florida graticules. (14/27)

The trip back was what got to me; turns out five geohashes is a little too many. I all but fell asleep on the return to St. Petersburg, then again on the drive back (thankfully as a passenger), and more or less collapsed in bed once I did get home, hence the lack of photos at the moment. Still, can't argue with the results of five successful geohashes!
