Plans

I won't even bother asking those of you in the München area if you're attempting 2013-01-21 48 11 but when you'll be there ;) It's even neatly located in a public park of some sort, that's a lucky hit not to be missed. We could attempt some funny achievements if anyone's interested. So - who's in? When will you be there? And what would you propose? Greetings, and have a nice weekend, Münchners :) -The T-Man 09:58, 18 January 2013 (EST)

I'd certainly like to go. Due to my lectures I'd have to go either in the morning at around 11 a.m. or later that evening, which I can't be sure about, but probably about 6:30 p.m., and hopefully not later than 8 p.m. Snowman achievement would be an obvious one. --DerFlob 19:40, 18 January 2013 (EST)
vermouthandgin and I are in too. However it would only be possible for me quite late, i.e. after work and the lesson I give to a student between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Fortunately the hash is really near where this student lives. So for me around 8:15 p.m. most probably. Another possibility would be to meet before the time I give this lesson, which requires me to leave work earlier. In this case it would be around 6:15/30 p.m. but vermouthandgin won't be able to come at that time (her lecture on monday ends at 6:30 p.m. ... Anyway, with the hash being around 4 km from home, we'll be attempting in any case :) — Zertrin 08:23, 19 January 2013 (EST)
Looks to me like it would be best and the least stressful for the three of you if we pushed the meeting to shortly past 8 p.m. so that you can finish your duties first. It's always better to know that there's nothing left waiting to be done ;) Scherzkeks will also attend. Also, I'll see who else I could reach. -The T-Man 02:42, 21 January 2013 (EST)
I'll try to come, too, and 8pm +X is perfect for me, too. -Rogenheck

Expedition

vermouthandgin and Zertrin

For this easy hash only a "late" attempt was possible for us. Fortunately the hashpoint was only 400 meter away from where Zertrin had to give a maths lesson between 7 and 8 p.m. On her side, vermouthandgin had a lecture at the university until 6:30 p.m. She had also time to reach the hashpoint without hurry.

vermouthandgin arrived near the hashpoint first, but without GPS, she waited on the road next to it for Zertrin to arrive (with the GPS).

While driving the 400 meters between the place where Zertrin gave the lesson and the hashpoint, he spotted DerFlob approaching and then vermouthandgin, already waiting near the hash. By the time Zertrin parked his car, DerFlob met vermouthandgin, and Zertrin joined them shortly after. While putting our bags in the car, DerFlob headed to the hash with help of his GPS receiver, and then Zertrin and vermouthandgin joined him.

There was some hesitation on the exact location of the hashpoint, most probably caused by the big fir tree next to the hash.

Then we waited for the others to come. The wait wasn't long, as some minute later came Rkschlotte. We talked a little and then came shortly after IdealStandard, with two folding chairs. We greeted him and he announced that he brought mulled wine. He began to install a camping stove, with help of a portable lamp, in order to heat up the wine in a cooking pot.

Meanwhile came Scherzkeks and The T-Man. We drank the wine, (thank you again IdealStandard!) chatting together for a while and taking some group pictures. Then some geohashers had to go back, while the rest of us began to build the snowman.

After taking more pictures of the snowman and us, we (vermouthandgin and Zertrin) said goodbye to the other geohashers, and headed back home.

Scherzkeks and The T-Man

On the one hand, we had some really tasty dinner. On the other hand, we were a bit behind our schedule because of that. Additionally, The T-Man once more didn't really succeed at finding the shortest path and got out of the subway one station early. After walking for about 20 minutes, we got to the spot, where everybody else had already arrived. A very, very small snowman had already been set up and IdealStandard was preparing some hot spiced wine. The wine had finally reached the intended temperature, was given out and enjoyed by everyone. After a couple of minutes of chatting and introducing everybody to each other (after all, München hasn't seen such a large meetup for, well, a very long time), group photos were taken and rkschlotte had to get back home.

The remaining geohashers started building a bigger snowman, which they fortunately had very good conditions for. The snow had exactly the right degree of stickiness and could easily be formed into the respective snowman segments. After taking some pictures of the finished snowman, our belongings were replaced with some natural substitutes that could be left at the scene and we got back home. Zertrin and vermouthandgin took off to get something to eat. And IdealStandard, DerFlob, Scherzkeks and The T-Man got back to the subway, this time not following The_T-Man and therefore taking the shortest route.

Rkschlotte

On our way back from the office my colleague dropped me off a kilometer from the meeting point. On my walk I searched and found a Geocache (GC3D745) that is located in the same park area as today's hashpoint. Much to my surprise some people were already present - this was the first time I was NOT alone while geohashing! :-) Thanks to IdealStandard for the hot spiced wine!
