We were gabbing with a garrulous woman from the Maine welcome center at Houlton.  "Where are you going next?" she asked, brightly.  "Danforth," I said.  She was stunned.  "DANFORTH?!?"  With a scattering of homes in various states of repair and a few small gas stations, the village is clearly not a major tourist draw.

We are going to see what we can do with this hashpoint from a base camp in Waterville. It looks pretty doable, but it's hard to say for sure without being familiar with forest density and access norms in this part of the world.

Expedition

We woke up on 2013-09-02 to the unexpected sound of rain bucketing down on the Pine Tree State. This led to considerable modification of our game plan. We ditched this one after driving from our base in Waterville to as close as Dover-Foxcroft (which is more than 50 miles by road, probably the least close I've ever come to a hashpoint). Oddly, we went ahead and tried for two others: 2013-09-02 45 -68 and 2013-09-02 45 -67.
