Bail on work early to avoid I-5 traffic, take 26 East to i-5 North, get off at the appropriate exit, park the car on the side of the road and take a leisurely stroll to the geohash.
Jim's plan was similar, but he went somewhat later.

Success! Stayed a bit later at work than planned, so waited for I-5 to clear out. Left home around 1930, took 26 east to I-5 north.
