Expedition

Originally I planned to pair this expedition with the Sunday hashpoint. It turned out that there would be no mileage advantage as the route from Saturday to Sunday went right past my house. So I got the joy of a daylight expedition in the pouring rain! The weather forecast was for dull cloud with occasional showers. In fact we got continuous light rain with occasional heavy downpours. The temperature was 15C.

I parked the car at Kenton and the hashpoint was about 650 metres away. The path zigzagged so the Pythagoras hypotenuse distance was greater. Close to the hashpoint, I discovered it was on the wrong side of the drainage ditch - consistent with my theories about quantum cussedness. I had to backtrack and cross the ditch. There was no water in the ditch. It was all on the tall vegetation. The crossing required a back-side slide manoeuvre. Soaked from the back-side down, I reached the hashpoint and took the photos. There was no 3G reception for the arrival message. I uploaded this from higher ground on the return walk.

I returned, exhilarated, to the car with wet clingy pants and soaked muddy feet.
