I planned my route as well as possible. I would walk about 1.3 kilometres to the nearest bus stop and get on bus 202. Then I would change to bus 204T in Uuro, near the intersection of major roads 6 and 73, and ride it to the hashpoint. I would have about 15 minutes until the bus would have turned round in Paihola and would drive past the point again. After getting on it again, it would drive through the hashpoint and I would have a good chance of getting the [[Speed racer achievement]] since the speed limit was apparently only 40 km/h.

I set off as planned. I was at the bus stop early enough that I continued to walk another 700 metres to the next bus stop. Even then, I had to wait about five minutes until the bus came. After the bus ride, I got off in Ahokkala and went to visit the hashpoint. As expected, it was located just a few metres off the road. After taking some pictures, it was time to head back to the bus stop and wait for the bus to return.

After getting on the bus again, I went to sit on the right side and got my GPS reciever ready. When distance to the hashpoint neared zero, I took some screenshots to capture the speed of the bus. I also saved the GPS track as a backup, but I got good enough screenshots that I did not need it. The screenshot at three-metre distance showed a speed of 45 km/h, over the speed limit, and after that the bus kept accelerating. For some reason, the map view seems to lag slightly compared to the distance field which I believe is more trustworthy.

Location

Near the village of Ahokkala in Kontiolahti. Just a few metres off the road between road 73 and Paihola.

Participants

Plans

I might try to reach this by bus, just to have fun. The local bus line 204T runs along this road, and there are bus stops at the intersection 110 metres to the south.

Expedition

I planned my route as well as possible. I would walk about 1.3 kilometres to the nearest bus stop and get on bus 202. Then I would change to bus 204T in Uuro, near the intersection of major roads 6 and 73, and ride it to the hashpoint. I would have about 15 minutes until the bus would have turned round in Paihola and would drive past the point again. After getting on it again, it would drive through the hashpoint and I would have a good chance of getting the Speed racer achievement since the speed limit was apparently only 40 km/h.

After riding the buses back to Joensuu and walking home, the expedition was over. In all, it took about one hour and 40 minutes and cost me three euros in bus fares.
