Expedition

With the hashpoints posted this morning, I found that I would be taking the dogs to the Outer Harbor after work to go chase hashes. This would be a pretty simple expedition since I've been out there plenty of times and have even walked by this spot on occasion. As a bonus, I was getting out of work early today because I need to support a system release this evening.

At 15:00 I was wrapping up helping a co-worker with some troubleshooting and got the dogs ready to go. Driving up, I was slightly concerned about the weather because there were a lot of dark rain clouds over Canada and they were heading our way. I thought they were far enough away that we could still get in a decent walk around the harbor, but we definitely headed to the Geohash first. This section of road is away from the lake and with a highway between the Outer Harbor and the 'mainland' (this area is on a long thin peninsula), it's not a photogenic place. So I can't prove that I've been here before even after looking through all my Outer Harbor picture sessions.

Walking up to the hash, I was able to get within the Circle of Uncertainty, but with no impediments, that was not going to do. I was able to get a very close reading after a short but extensive GPS dance in the grass. With pictures taken, I continued walking the Outer Harbor Loop, but we didn't go to the next section where there's a beach. Getting back to the car, we continued walking to the other section where there's a couple dirt tracks and a bike park and completed that mini loop as well. In total, I think we walked just over 2 miles. It was good timing too, because shortly after getting in the car, it started raining pretty heavily. We outpaced it heading back home, but the rain eventually caught up (after we were safely inside).
