Expedition

I arrived in Munich on Friday morning, the day of the big snow which has left the public transport of the city in shambles. Apparently one of the biggest snowfalls of the last several years (at least on December, I don't really know). Long distance trains were not arriving/leaving the city, delayed trains and subway, no trams, etc. So for the weekend I couldn't leave the city, and on Monday and Tuesday it was quite difficult since only a few trains were covering only some stops of their lines.

So this meant that this hash it was quite unlikely for me to pursue it, it was at least not my priority. But since on Thursday I could finally leave the city in a regular manner, I had planned spending the morning in Dachau and this hash... well it was in that direction. So I kept an eye open.

And it was tempting. After finishing my visit in Dachau I had several hours free until meeting someone here so... I started to look how to get there. There is this bus, and then this train which goes every 40 minutes, and there there is this bus that goes every... 40? 20? Minutes. If not, I could also walk... And almost in an impulsive manner I went for it.

And it really started as a bad idea... ¿^^ Right at the beginning in Dachau the first delay. The train is arriving 10 minutes late since there is only one train track usable and we had to wait for the coming train. And Ok, 10 minutes doesn't seem like much, but that meant that I missed my bus when I arrived in Vierkirchen. When does the next come... 20 minutes? Seems alright. I waited, the bus arrived quite on time, only a few minutes late, but then I see it doesn't take the road I expected... Wait a second, where am I going? I really didn't notice and it's one of those lines which have the same number, but one goes over this town, and the next other the other town. So I got off on the next stop.

Now I am in Weichs. And I was really feeling the bad idea vibes. Now not only I had to walk to the hash, but then wait for a bus that goes every 40 minutes (so I could be waiting for 40 minutes) and then take a train that also comes every 40 minutes. But there was no way back.

But my luck turned around. Almost leaving Weichs I go by another bus stop and I see that in 5 minutes comes a bus that can take me to Ebersbach. This shortens my walk by almost 30 minutes! Great. I take this bus, comes on time, and from Ebersbach I have a placid 15 minutes walk to the field where the hash fell.

Such a beautiful winter scene. Vasts fields of white. I don't have that in Catalonia and I had it not that often on my short period of time when I lived in northern Germany. And that special silence of the snow. I found it quite breathtaking since I am not used to it. It feels special.

I had to make my way on 40cm layer of fresh snow, but didn't get wet feet which is important. And I was almost arriving at the coordinates. Once I approached the right field a great egret flew across in front of me. I didn't meant to scare it. And finally I located the right coordinates! Hurray! Pont reached somewhere in the white snow.

Took a few pictures as proof and the it starting raining a bit. So much snow and winter and I can't even claim the frozen achievement. According to my phone +2ºC. It doesn't matter. I had other things in mind, more precisely, the potential 40 minutes I had to wait for bus and train.

So I walk to the next bus stop in Jedenhofen it rains a little bit more. Will I wait, will I walk? I check the schedule and... it comes now! Really? I wait for a minute, and yes! There it comes. And once in Vierkirchen I also had to only wait 5 minutes for my train. My luck really turned around. Very glad, it was a nice expedition.
