About

The Kotka graticule is at latitude 60, longitude 26.

It includes major towns of Kotka, Kouvola and Loviisa. At the time of creation of this graticule Kotka was the biggest town by population, but a merger of several municipalities in the beginning of 2009 changed the situation in favour of Kouvola.

Approximately two fifths is taken up by the Gulf of Finland. Most of the Hogland island in the middle of the gulf falls in this graticule. Hogland was captured from Finland by Soviet Union in the aftermath of World War II and is now Russian territory. It's very difficult to get there these days and if the hashpoint falls in Hogland, reaching it is a great achievement.
