The Maracaibo graticule is located around latitude 10, longitude -71.

Some Geohashes might be dificult given the danger that reaching some parts of the graticule represent, but geohashers from this area will try to reach them as best they can, while reasonable.

Maracaibo is the capital city of the Zulia state, in Venezuela. Known across the country due to it's history and the extremeley different culture this city has developed in relation to the rest of it, there should be quite some sights to be found within the area surrounding it.

The Maracaibo lake, the biggest in latin america is a greatly transited shipping port for crude oil produced in the Zulia state - Venezuelas greatest revenue source. Given the ammount of industrial expansion and poor enviromental controls, the lake has deteriorated to being one of the most contamined bodies of water in the country, however it still holds some beauty in it's margins.

Despite the ammount of water found within this recticule, most geohashes will be land/city based, due to the dificulty in finding a reliable mean of reaching specific points within the lake and the dangers this implies.
