The Newport News, Virginia graticule is at latitude 37, longitude -76. It includes all of the good parts of Hampton Roads: Newport News and Hampton (and not Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and that sort of thing). It also features the historic triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown, where the British settlements that eventually became the United States were first started. Much of this area is the beautiful Chesapeake Bay; it contains a sliver of Virginia's eastern shore and a section of Maryland's bay, including part of Smith Island.

Local Geohashers

Clint wishes either the geohashes would stop finding the Bay or he would get the ambition to rent a boat.

Mike wishes there were more local geohashers

Krip will be a seasonal geohasher in this graticule.

James would be up for visiting a location here or in the Norfolk graticule sometime. Depending upon what the Dow brings, a meetup this Saturday could be quite possible.

Upcoming Geohashing Proposals

Most recent proposals/comments at the top, please.

Clint wonders what the deal is with the alternative location for today's (2008 July 5) meetup because it provides no advantages to the original one. It must be random, and to that, he says, the original location is already random!
