Portland, Oregon

[[Category:Meetup in {{{lat}}} {{{lon}}}| ]]

The Portland metro area graticule is at 46 N, -123 W. It completely encloses the city of Portland and some surrounding areas. The graticule is almost entirely land, much of it open and undeveloped, making this one of the best areas for geohashing.

For other places called Portland, go here.

Cities in this Graticule

  • Portland, OR
  • Vancouver, WA

Daily Locations

5/23/08 - Friday

Lake Oswego neighborhood.

Too bad this would have been a better location for Saturday :(

5/24/2008 - Saturday

?

  • Wait, don't you have to change the date to 2008-05-24? Then it changes to take place in the Molalla area. I might not make it to Saturday's, but how about Memorial Day's, in Vancouver?
  • You're right, I was mistaken about Saturday's location.
  • I might be down for Monday's location in Vancouver
  • Saturday's location is PERFECT! Who wants to go to a dumb old neighborhood. We get to go tresspassing in some farmer's field! WOO! We'll be there baby!

Notable Dates

whenever they feel like being notable...notably August 17th

Participants

  • Alexp I'll try and make it to this saturday's meet up. I'm in Salem though it seems more likely people will use the portland area since Salem's Graticule is kinda funky. If anyone else is planning on making it let me know.
  • Drache and NoTerminal will be hosting the first Saturday GeoHashing meetup for the Portland Graticule this week. Wherever it is, we'll be there with a chess board (or maybe two) and an arsenal of tech. If it's somewhere unreachable, we'll be as close as we can get. Look for a very dirty black VW Jetta or a silver Subaru Imprezza hatch-back with an over sized roof rack. There will be XKCD signs in the windows and our actual GPS coordinates on the dash if we're not at the specified ones. We'll also be on CB channel 36, family radio channel 13 with no codepage or codepage 0, and HAM radio frequency 146.52mhz, Callsign KC7KWX. Our CBs are car mounted so switch to ham or family when you're close to the location.

Happy hunting!
