Anyone else think we should remove all of the days when no one visited the hash or posted on its individual day page? At the very least separate them from the ones people actually visited which we might want to read about. I hardly care where the hash was on some random day a month ago when it wasn't anywhere interesting and no one went there. You always have the map if you do care. I say this because as we can all see from the last date listed being 8/19, it is hard to keep the page updated when you're not really interested in any of the hashes. Yet it seems like the page should list all of them or only the visited one. I vote for the visited ones. --[[User:Sparkyb|Sparkyb]] 15:59, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

The area inside Rhode Island state boundries comprises only about half a percent of the total area of the graticule, which means about a 1 in 200 chance of getting a hash in Rhode Island.  However, should someone acheive such a hash, it should be very easy to get one in the Providence grat, and have completed hashes in all (both) Rhode Island grats.

Should there be an achievement for completing a state or province, perhaps?  A Rhode Island Achievement for the above example, for instance.  The badge would be an outline of the state, natch, though few states would be easy to complete. -[[User:Wmcduff|Wmcduff]] 04:40, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Pruning

Anyone else think we should remove all of the days when no one visited the hash or posted on its individual day page? At the very least separate them from the ones people actually visited which we might want to read about. I hardly care where the hash was on some random day a month ago when it wasn't anywhere interesting and no one went there. You always have the map if you do care. I say this because as we can all see from the last date listed being 8/19, it is hard to keep the page updated when you're not really interested in any of the hashes. Yet it seems like the page should list all of them or only the visited one. I vote for the visited ones. --Sparkyb 15:59, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Rename

Using the naming conventions, I've corrected most of the graticules in North America, and other editors have done the rest. The only remaining holdout is Boston.

Proposal - move this page/talk combination (and correct all links) to Boston, Massachusetts. Comments? --Thomcat 14:31, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

One is a redirect to the other right now... all it would take is a "MOVE" to flip that around. That way, there would be no disruption to those who use this page frequently. Fixing all the pointing links around the wiki wouldn't be so crucial, but would probably also be a good thing. --Tim P 20:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

How about inversing the geohashes so the most recent is at the top? Any thoughts? -- Loch

Agreed. I made the change. At some point (perhaps in a few weeks) we should also change to showing the most recent 8(?) or so hashes, and have the rest at Boston/Archive.--Ahecht 20:21, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

How about putting the geohashers in alpha sort? Any thoughts?

Loch

Statistic/Achievement Suggestion

The area inside Rhode Island state boundries comprises only about half a percent of the total area of the graticule, which means about a 1 in 200 chance of getting a hash in Rhode Island. However, should someone acheive such a hash, it should be very easy to get one in the Providence grat, and have completed hashes in all (both) Rhode Island grats.

Should there be an achievement for completing a state or province, perhaps? A Rhode Island Achievement for the above example, for instance. The badge would be an outline of the state, natch, though few states would be easy to complete. -Wmcduff 04:40, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

1951-07-31 Retro Hash.

If any one is interested in doing a retro hash, can you consider that date and then swing by 42.278632,-71.352623 and take a bunch of pictures? Thanks --NWoodruff 12:40, 29 January 2013 (EST)
