Oh! Different is nice!

Hey, looks as if i'm the first to comment on this new format. I like it! It looks very attractive. I do however have two comments. 1. I would like to see the day of week somewhere. Even if it's just 'Mon' like that. 2. The '++' and 'how?' seem not very obvious on what people are expected to do. Perhaps a bit of explanatory text above that links to the How page, and then an 'add yours' link instead of the '++'. -- sermoa 22:07, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

Yay! comments! I actually tried to incite a discussion here but things went unnoticed, and so I thought I could just go for the offensive change instead. :D
Hurrah! Good choice! -- sermoa 22:29, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Re 1) Days of week are important for geohashing, I'll see that I find one somewhere. 2) Yes, I was trying to find something short (not wider than the year) that still makes you want to click. The ++ was just an in-joke, because "add" with the URL-symbol was too wide. I had (+) before, but that's not necessarily better. I could also try to make the "how" more obvious and explain things there maybe. how and to on two lines could work. Suggestions are very welcome here! -- relet 22:25, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I wouldn't mind at all if the date marker column were a bit wider. Can you give it css width to enable room for a full 'add' link? And is there a way of avoiding that misleading "this goes to a different website" arrow? -- sermoa 22:29, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the actual trouble. If you want to link to the &action=edit part of the page, you'll have to use an external link. Otherwise you could just link to the date page, and if it does not exist, it would say "create this page". If it does exist, it would just display something not unlike a gallery for the day though. We could try that maybe. -- relet 22:32, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I think there is a way to hide the linky arrow. Somebody managed to do it for Template:Advert where it goes 'click here' and goes to edit a new comment section on the talk page. I know we had trouble with that arrow but somebody (probably either Davidc or Koepfel) found a way to fix it. -- sermoa 22:39, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Indeed! Thank you! -- relet 22:44, 6 June 2010 (UTC) It works! -- relet 22:47, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
HURRAH!! glad you were able to find the thing you needed. I couldn't see it myself but now i see how it works :) -- sermoa 22:50, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
