Since pretty much ever edit to a talk page consists of adding a comment, and as some people subscribe to the updates such that they read the summaries, consider making our lives more interesting by summarizing your comment, e.g. "my mom approves" or "I like it too." -Robyn 17:29, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks Robyn - being new to this I appreciate the advice, and I see your point (which I hope is evident from my summary) :) --macronencer 18:42, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
Woo! I love your goals. I made a sign once out of seasnails. They started walking away while I was trying to photograph them. I realized afterwards that I should have taken a series of photos of them leaving and then run it backwards so it looks like the were congregating to make the sign. -Robyn 22:33, 19 July 2009 (UTC)
That's very good! Of course, it needs to be done with ducklings at some point, too. By the way, I've been looking at your page, and also the page of Reinhard and getting a lot of ideas for mine. One thing I love about wikis is that you can edit to see the source and work out how things are done. I've been able to learn much quicker by doing that. I enjoyed reading your recent hash with the bramble patch - must have been great fun! Like you, I hope to get fit doing this, but I need some proper equipment. I do have a reasonable bike and my own car, which is a good start! --macronencer 23:18, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey have you seen we've been linked on the Meetup_graph! :) sermoa 21:13, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey, great! I didn't know that existed. :) --macronencer 22:14, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

iPhone GPS info

I'm looking for a simple GPS info app for the iPhone - if you know of one then please let me know, otherwise I can let you know if I find one. PhilHibbs 16:45, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Phil - Well I'm using Motion-X GPS which is pretty cheap in the iTunes store (1.79GBP). It's not exactly "simple" but it has simple modes where you just get a GPS readout, if that's all you need. In addition it handles waypoints, tracks (which can be shared by email, Facebook etc.) and a GPS compass if you haven't got the 3GS :) HTH --macronencer 18:25, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Place Names

One thing that I find amusing when I read about your expeditions is that we have so many of those place names in Massachusetts. I guess whoever named places here had very little imagination. We have Chelmsford, Brighton, Southampton (I think I drove though Southampton today), Weymouth, Charlton, and probably also others of the places you have geohashed. (So far I haven't geohashed in any of those towns, though.) If the Tale of Two Hashes ever becomes an official achievement, we will be able to claim each other's challenges.

Oh yes! I'd read about that achievement a week or two ago, but not in proper detail. You just prompted me to go and have another look. I think you are right: if it becomes official, there will be lots of opportunities for translatlantic co-operation, given our histories - probably especially in your area. They don't call it "New England" for nothing! ;) --macronencer 08:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

How old is your son? I bet he'll like geohashing when you get a chance to take him with you. My son is very much looking forward to the Buccaneer Achievement Sara 01:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

He will be 7 in November. I'm looking forward to doing a hash with him - perhaps it will be in August as I have a week's leave from work to spend with him and the weather might be nice. Buccaneer achievement sounds like a great idea for him, LOL! I must remember to do that at some point. --macronencer 08:07, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
