Planning

This is going to be the longest distance I have to travel to a hash so far, about 30km from my house, which is almost twice as far as my previous expedition. Here's my planned schedule:

  • 13:10, Karlsruhe Hbf Platform 8, Interregioexpress, arriving at Baden-Baden 13:29, then take Bus 218, departing 13:35, arriving at Iffezheim Tullastraße at 13:51.
  • Back Home: Bus 234 departing from Tullastraße at 15:32 to Rastatt, then I'll take the S4 back to Karlsruhe.

Live from the Expedition

You know that you have to be at the hashpoint at 16:00 in order to be able to count the expedition as a special Saturday Meetup? - Danatar

the problem is, the last bus to rastatt leaves at 15:32, if i miss it, i'd have to call some kind of taxi-bus to get back home, which also takes nearly an hour longer. I'm at the hash right now, btw --koepfel 13:50, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
Also, I had to be back in Karlsruhe by 17:00. This is why, when I can't make it at 16:00, I announce the expedition before I leave, creating a somehow-alternative Meetup time. I know this probably doesn't count as an official Saturday Meetup, though. Koepfel talk 21:23, 14 February 2009 (UTC)

Snowman!

As originally planned, I took the 13:10 Interregioexpress to Baden-Baden. After some confusion [1] regarding my bus's destination, I reached Iffezheim. On my way to the hash, some people stopped and asked me for directions. Somehow, I seem to look like I know where I am. It wouldn't be the last time for today. After fighting thorn'd bushes [2] and trying to find a GPS signal in the dense forest, I found the hash. I then got some snow from a nearby clearing, built a small snowman and carried it to the hash. I would have build a bigger one, but since I had to carry it, I decided that this one will do, too. Also, time was running out, as the last bus to Rastatt would leave at 15:32. I had to hurry. So I went/ran back to the bus stop. Before the bus arrived, another car stopped and people asked me for directions again. They were looking for some ski resort in the Black Forest I never even heard of. I told them to drive to Baden-Baden and ask there again. I then took the bus to Rastatt, bought myself a Döner [3] (we totally need a GeoDöner Achievement), and took the S4 back to Karlsruhe, where I arrived at 16:34.
