Plans

Official Saturday meetup: 16:00.

If we could agree on 17 pm, I would be much more likely to make it.-HiroProtagonist 15:31, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Fine with me - David? --relet
1700 is fine with me too. Want to cycle there together? We could meet say at Rosenthaler Platz around 4pm. BTW must see the lake while we're there. --Davidc 23:45, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
relet will be there. 09:29, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

What about GPS this time? -HiroProtagonist 07:53, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

/me is better equipped now., and davidc should be too. -- relet 09:23, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

I'll bring a slackline and juggling stuff and would suggest to relocate to the Weißer See après hash to sit in the sun and enjoy the lake. -- relet 10:03, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

Expedition

relet and davidc met at Rosenthaler Platz and cycled to the hash point. Arrived half an hour early and identified the destination in some dense bushes. Explored the (possibly former military) park until Hiro and guest Hannah arrived.

Couldn't get directly to the hashpoint through the brush but we were able to follow the edge of a building back and then cut in. Conveniently the destination was right on top of a huge rock that we all climbed gleefully. See silly grin evidence.

We then went to visit the Weißensee lake. On the way in we quickly found geocache GC1EEJG Weißenseer Park. A lovely sunny day, there were many many muggles around, and when we started suspiciously looking under the pier, they pointed us to its approximate location as another geocacher had only just visited it!

GC1F5WZ Weißer See proved rather more elusive though as its coordinates were inaccurate. At the exact GPS location was a tree root with a tunnel underneath it, a perfect hiding spot one would think. But even Hiro putting her arms in up to her shoulders found nothing. After half an hour of searching the bushes looking for the cache, a stranger approached with a funny look. We thought we were looking suspicious, but he turned out to be a geocacher who had found the cache a few hours earlier, and with his hint of the GPS inaccuracy, we quickly found the real spot!

Hiro and Hannah had to head off, but relet and davidc stayed. relet set up his slack ropes and showed off. davidc couldn't keep his balance to take even two steps. A beer by the lake and a downhill ride home capped off another fun day's geo fun!
