Neil went by car from Beccles to Scole, arriving at about 23:30 GMT. The hashpoint could be reached by following a public footpath parallel with the A140 main road. The road was very quiet because all sane people were keeping warm indoors, either celebrating Christmas Eve or more likely sleeping. The hashpoint was in a snowy pasture 220 metres from the public footpath. The field was very well fenced and hedged so the shortest approach was not possible. At the northeast corner of the field there was vehicle access so this was the chosen route. Neil reached the hashpoint 20 minutes before midnight and failed to spot Santa.
