I don't like to work on my birthday, so I took leave today. Now what do we do with a day off when the weather is fine (or at least fine enough - cloudy and misty but really warm)? Of course: Geohashing it is! Going for my Birthday Geohash! The place was near a cycling route I use a lot during the summer when I visit my parents, so it was easy to find the way there. To go there was even easier because I had the wind in my back and in Mellingen I found an old man on a roadbike whose slipstream dragged me easily to Kranichfeld where we parted company again.
I soon reached the Geohash point and noticed that, thanks to my companion, I had been pretty fast. So I decided to take Reinhard's advice he gave me the evening before: take a 5km detour to Stadtilm to make sure it will be a 100-km-ride (and he also told me there was a really good bratwurst grill - that might have been more important). So I cycled there, found the grill and just ordered the same the small family had that ordered before me - and because the barbecue master seemed to like me I even got a bit extra ;)
So I felt strengthened and full of energy when I got back on my bike to cycle on to Rudolstadt (which wasn't actually planned, but well, why not) and from there back home to Jena (with another break in a beer garden on the way - because it's my birthday, you know). I came home very sated and satisfied after 120 kms and went on to meet friends and have cake. Yay!

As a birthday extra, I finally got this back (or is someone gonna report an expedition for this day in 2017?):
